Harbour House
Harbour House is a long-running seafood restaurant with two Cape Town locations — a polished, marina-facing branch at the V&A Waterfront, and a more relaxed original in Kalk Bay.
The two locations
The V&A Waterfront branch sits directly over the working harbour with glass-walled seating and an upper deck for cocktails, giving it a more cosmopolitan, tourist-friendly feel. The original Kalk Bay branch, further down the False Bay coast, keeps a more laid-back, local atmosphere with equally strong sea views — diners have reported seals visible on the rocks just outside the window.
What to expect
The menu centres on fresh seafood — prawns, calamari, fish prepared simply — alongside a handful of non-seafood options for anyone in your group who isn't in the mood for fish. It's a genuine special-occasion, dress-a-little-nicer restaurant rather than a casual harbourside snack stop, and priced accordingly.
Booking
Both locations are popular enough, especially the Waterfront branch in peak season, that booking ahead is strongly recommended rather than walking in.
